SUD Lisboa Hall Hosts a Concert by Pianist Giorgi Gigashvili

10/03/2026

On March 15 at 6:00 p.m., SUD Lisboa Hall will host the concert “Echoes of Georgia,” featuring Georgian pianist Giorgi Gigashvili, considered one of the most promising talents of the new generation of European pianists and named an ECHO Rising Star for 2025/26.

The recital takes place in a privileged setting along the Tagus River, overlooking the 25 de Abril Bridge and the Cristo Rei statue, highlighting the venue’s scenic beauty, where landscape, architecture, and the city converge.

For this performance in Lisbon, Gigashvili will be accompanied by musicians Giorgi Zagareli and Nikala Zubiashvili. The concert offers a musical journey that evokes Georgia’s cultural richness, exploring the dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Born in Tbilisi in 2000, Gigashvili has been making a name for himself internationally thanks to his interpretive maturity and artistic consistency. Trained at the Geneva Conservatory under the guidance of pianist Nelson Goerner, the musician has already earned several international distinctions, including first prize at the Vigo International Piano Competition and the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition. As a BBC New Generation Artist, he has also distinguished himself for his ability to blend the classical repertoire with contemporary compositions.

The recital program spans different musical landscapes, bringing together composers such as Giya Kancheli, Inola Gurgulia, and Liliko Nemsadze, alongside contemporary reinterpretations of works by Maurice Ravel and Johann Sebastian Bach. Blending memory, improvisation, and classical language, “Echoes of Georgia” seeks to reveal Georgia’s musical richness and the universality of music as a meeting place for cultures.

“This cultural event prioritizes artistic relevance, curatorial consistency, and a connection with the audience. The presence of Giorgi Gigashvili embodies this vision: to bring performers who represent the new generation of European pianists to the SUD Lisboa Hall, fostering a thoughtful dialogue between tradition and the contemporary,” says Salomé Gorgiladze, director of SUD Lisboa and the SANA Hotels chain.

After the recital, the audience will also have the opportunity to participate in an informal gathering with the artist, accompanied by a toast, reinforcing the closeness between performer and audience that characterizes the venue’s cultural programming.
