BPI will grant a “green loan” in the amount of 30 million euros for the construction of a hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia. The loan will be granted to Intra Douro – Investimentos Turísticos, a company within the Azinor group, and has a term of 15 years.
According to a statement released by the bank, the loan was entirely arranged and underwritten by BPI and is intended for the construction of Evolution Gaia, “a modern hotel that will expand the range of tourist accommodations in the Porto region.”
The building will “undergo energy certification, as the investment is driven by strong sustainability concerns and goals,” the bank states. “This financing is part of BPI’s Sustainable Banking strategy, reinforcing its role as a leading financier through the adoption of innovative solutions grounded in sustainability principles,” it adds.
The hotel will be a four-star property, with more than 185 rooms, a restaurant, a gym, and a spa. It will be located on Avenida da República in Vila Nova de Gaia. The opening is scheduled for 2026, and the hotel will “embrace an innovative concept focused on new technologies and an irreverent style, while maintaining the comfort and quality that characterize the SANA brand,” BPI emphasizes.
